Antoinette VII
This French monoplane was designed by Leon Levavasseur and constructed by marine engineers Jules Gastanbide and Mengin in 1906. The marine influence is clearly noticable in the boat-like propellor and fuselage design. The type was named after Gastanbide's daughter. There were eight different designs of which the models from number IV and up.
In 1909 Hubert Latham made an attempt to cross the English Channel using a type IV. In 1911 he made a second unsuccesful attempt to cross the Channel, this time in an Antoinette VII. There are three known survivors of the Demoiselle, all VII-types:
