Biot-Massia

In 1883, Frenchman Gaston Biot, financed and probably assisted by Massia, constructed a glider with feather-like surfaces. Biot flew it several times at Clamart - on one of those flights the pilot suffered injuries in an accident. The plane was donated to the Musee de l'Air (Le Bourget) in 1925 and restored in 1960: it is claimed to be the world's oldest surviving heavier-than-air machine.
