de Havilland DH 88 Comet

The DH88 Comet was designed specifically to take part in a race from the UK to Australia,  to mark in 1934 the centenary of the foundation of the State of Victoria. Three Comets set off for the race, the red G-ACSS "Grosvenor House" was the winner of the speed prize, covering the course in 70 hrs and 54 minutes.
After WW 2 this Comet was restored, and it flies again since 1987, now from Old Warden Aerodrome (Shuttleworth Collection).
